FC ScotSpurs - A history

FC Scotspurs were formed in January 2009 by a group of Tottenham Hotspur fans, primarily from East of Scotland, with Steve Oliver, Gav McDonald and Danny Oliver the main protagonists.

Our first game took place on a bitterly cold Thursday evening at Braes High School in Falkirk, against AFC Bairnfica. Despite a very spirited performance, especially considering the side had been thrown together, we went down 4-1 to the hosts. Tommy Cheeseman grabbed our goal to make it 1-1 at the time, and went down in History as our first ever scorer.

Next up was a game at Holyrood Sports Centre in Glasgow against Queens Park Supporters FC. Again we played well, but ultimately went down 3-1 with  Gav McDonald scoring our goal.

April 2009 saw a total of 5 games. Three of those were on the same day - at The Ormond Saints Spring Cup. We beat the hosts 3-0, lost 1-0 to Queens Park SFC and lost 2-0 to tournament winners Appin 0-2. The games were 30 minutes long, and we had once again certainly not disgraced ourselves, and indeed in the game against Ormond Saints had produced the performance of the day in the entire tournament.

Another two games would follow in April, and both were big losses. Firstly we played Beechwood Albion at Stirling Uni, losing 9-1 with Ray Bates scoring from the spot. A few days later we were soundly beaten 7-0 by Queens Park at Toryglen.

In June 2009 we took part in the annual Queens Park 6's for the first time, where we posted wins against Nottingham Forest and Shrewsbury Town.

In July 2009 we played our first game on a proper senior ground, with a game against Bairnfica AFC at Alloa Athletic's Recreation Park. We played the game as a Memorial Cup for John White, the Spurs, Falkirk and Scotland player who was killed by lightning on an Enfield golf course. We lost 3-1 this time, with Neil Quigley grabbing our goal.

August 2009 saw us host our own tournament for the first time - The Scotspurs Sevens. Held at Meadowbank, it was won by Abler, with Queens Park, Ormond Saints, Appin, PSJ and Edinburgh Saints taking part.

We played two further games in 2009 - a 5-1 win against Queens Park in September and a 2-2 draw with Ormond Saints in November.

2010 saw our action cut down to just our own Sevens tournament - again at Meadowbank and The Queens Park 6's.

Into 2011 and we have only so far taken part in the Queens Park 6's. We reached the final of the main competition, losing 3-2 to Troon in a hard fought game.

We will take part in the John Drennan Cup, a 4 team 11-a-side tournament, with Queens Park (the hosts), Calders and Registrars the other teams.
